Founded on the Belief That Organisation Is an Act of Care
Cairnstone was established in Phuket to serve the international and Thai families who make this island their home. We noticed that many families — often after a bereavement or during a parent's later years — faced the same challenge: a collection of important documents with no clear structure, and no obvious starting point.
Solicitors, notaries, and government departments handle the formal steps. What Cairnstone provides is something different: a calm, unhurried process to sort, label, and preserve the documents that those formal steps may eventually require. We close the gap between a drawer full of papers and a coherent, accessible archive.
We are not lawyers. We do not hold assets. We do not assess valuations or advise on entitlements. Our work is educational and organisational, and we are honest about that boundary in every session we deliver.

To help families bring order to their most important records, so that when the time comes to involve official or licensed professionals, the paperwork is ready and the family is less overwhelmed.

Margaret established Cairnstone after years of working with expatriate families navigating Thai documentation for the first time. She leads all Records Organisation and Information Sessions.

Archive & Digitisation Coordinator
Siriporn manages the scanning, digital structuring, and labelling process within the Archive, Inventory & Wishes Programme, ensuring every family's records are clear and retrievable.
James Thornton
Client Relations & Scheduling
James is the first voice families hear when they reach out. He handles all initial enquiries, session scheduling, and follow-up communications with care and patience.

The Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Confidentiality by Default
Family documents and personal information discussed in sessions are held in strict confidence. We do not share details with third parties and we do not retain records after our engagement concludes.
Clear Scope at All Times
Before each session begins we confirm in writing what we will and will not do. Clients always know they are receiving organisational and educational support, not professional advice of any regulated kind.
Referral to Qualified Professionals
When a matter falls outside our educational scope, we signpost clearly to solicitors, notaries, the Thai Land Department, or other appropriate official bodies — and we do so promptly, without delay.
Session Summaries Provided
Every session concludes with a brief written summary of what was organised and any next steps recommended. Families leave with something tangible and clear, not just a conversation.
Plain-Language Communication
We avoid jargon in all sessions and written materials. Our goal is that every family member — regardless of their familiarity with succession terminology — can follow and contribute.
Sensitivity to Circumstances
Many of our clients are dealing with a recent loss or a parent's declining health. Our facilitators are trained to read the room, slow down when needed, and prioritise human dignity above any procedural checklist.
About Our Work
Document Organisation and Succession Education in Phuket
International families living in Phuket often hold documents across multiple systems — Thai land title deeds, foreign bank correspondence, multiple sets of identity papers, and insurance policies from different countries. Bringing these into a single, coherent archive is a practical step that makes every subsequent formal process easier to handle. Cairnstone provides exactly that service: a structured session to sort, label, and file what already exists.
Our estate organisation information sessions draw on general knowledge of how succession processes work in Thailand and internationally, explaining the categories of documents typically involved, the roles of the Land Department, courts, and notarial services, and how families can be better prepared before approaching those bodies. We do not assess individual estates, and nothing in our sessions constitutes a professional opinion on any specific situation.
The Archive, Inventory & Wishes Programme is our most comprehensive offering, helping families compile a lasting record over several sessions, digitise important papers, and write down personal wishes in a format that is clear and retrievable for whoever may need it in the future. Cairnstone's work sits alongside — and points clearly toward — the solicitors, notaries, and official government offices who carry out the formal legal steps.
